I love the ships and stations and use of the milky way etc. I guess it just feels like such an obvious miss from such a good core concept and game. It seems like all the hard part is already done for something like that. I've never understood why they haven't done something like that, even if you had to be X amount of LY outside the bubble or something.īuilding up a little moon base with a ground installation and trying to maintain / expand/haul your own cargo that you manufactured etc. The entire milky way but I can't find a little piece of shit system and build factories to make a bio waste empire w my friends? Why tf not lol I wish it had any amount of depth or crafting or world building etc. They just didn't do enough to make it a viable MP game imo. I like this game a single player game where you go look at stars and do dumb mailslot or trench runs on a planet. (Bc I agree and end up using it but simultaneously, it feels like I'm half assing it or it's cheap and cheesy ) Telepresence being way easier and better / safer has been a lol for me. All in all, a disheartening situation, and I am looking to put Elite up on the shelf for some time until these things are improved. One of my friends if even going through the process of asking a refund, as he feels the game outright promises things that it cannot deliver. These parts of the game feel like they were designed by someone who KNOWS ABOUT Multiplayer games, but actually has never played one (or, more frighteningly, didn't actually play Elite to the level some of the players do). It takes ALL the effort of getting from station to site and rewards you ONLY if you do it perfectly. You MUST respawn at station, and not your landed ship or SRV. There's no way for your Team Members to revive, save, or otherwise get you back in the game. I mentioned the 100% perfection level before - if you so much as die and fall unconscious on one of these On Foot missions, then you are regenerating back in your Home Station, possibly quite a ways away. Even trying to get things like the mapping for UI Switches between Ship and SRV mode was a 45-minute process last night with my friend on Discord. Given that Elite has, in some cases, three to four levels of submenus down, it's a terrible nightmare for a new player to navigate, and woe betide you if you are using a controller or off-brand HOTAS. This week the primary experience has been mapping keys and navigating my friends through the menus and sub-menus that you need to navigate to get things done in the game. Finding four compatible quests, flying to the quest zones, completing them 100% perfectly every time, and then flying back - so much of all of this is just staring at literally a starfield, waiting for things to happen. But given that each Team Member on a Team can only share a single mission, and that mission can only be shared if every Team Member meets the requirements for it (rep, etc) then progression becomes outright tedious. I was so, so wrong.ġ) Each Team Member can Share One Mission OnlyĪ major element of satisfaction is stacking and completing missions together. So we entered in Elite thinking this would be an amazing, vast sandbox to play in! I even worked really hard in the first 6 months of the year and got a carrier for us to fly around and play in. I bought the game when it was on sale on Steam, and my buddies and I are fairly dedicated gamers who have built works, homes and worlds together in Valheim, FFXIV, Minecraft and more.
